FUTURES

Learning that secures tomorrow.

FlameLily Futures - About

Too many children with talent, curiosity, and drive are pushed out of school long before they reach their potential. The reasons are not complicated: school fees, lack of guidance, and everyday barriers that quietly decide who gets to continue and who does not.

Aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, we advance futures by resourcing dreams with tools, networks, and support systems. This pillar is grounded in our values of mindful innovation, empowerment, and community-centered sustainability.

How Education Breaks Cycles

Education works when support is steady and personal. Futures focuses on education scholarships, mentorship programs, and job-ready skills that help young people move from school into stable, dignified work.

We do three things consistently:

We keep learners in school when money would otherwise force them out

We connect them with mentors who help them plan realistic careers

We build practical skills so learning leads to opportunity

This work supports SDG 4: Quality Education and is led alongside communities not for them. We don’t pretend solutions are simple, but we do focus on what works.

PARTNER WITH FUTURES
Our Programs
ChiShamiso Bursary

The ChiShamiso Bursary provides education scholarships for primary and high-school learners in rural communities, supporting over 300 students since launch.

Delivered in partnership with Teach For Zimbabwe, it covers tuition and essentials, while offering families and partners the chance to support named cohorts aligned with their values.

Kurauone Mentorship

Guidance that changes direction. A 12-week, one-on-one program that connects young people with experienced mentors through an online platform. In partnership with Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI), it helps learners understand career options, plan next steps, and speak with confidence about their goals.

Featured Cohort

Dr. Yvonne Bare-Dumbu Scholars in Health Sciences

This named cohort honours Dr. Yvonne Bare-Dumbu, a doctor who believed that education and healthcare belong together, and lived that belief every day.

Established by her family, the Dr. Yvonne Bare-Dumbu Scholars in Health Sciences make up 20% of the ChiShamiso Educational Fund cohort. They support learners with academic promise, compassion, and a clear interest in health-science careers.

That was her way: specific, thoughtful, human.

This scholarship continues that approach. It removes financial barriers early and helps learners stay on track toward careers in healthcare, where compassion matters as much as skill.

Dr. Bare-Dumbu cared deeply about people, not just outcomes. During the COVID-19 crisis, she noticed a frightened autistic teenager struggling in hospital. Without seeking attention, she arranged earphones so the child could cope. That small act changed a long, frightening hospital stay.

Learners We Walk With

Stories of determination meeting opportunity.

Tawanda’s Story

From High School to University

Shows what steady support can do. Through the ChiShamiso Bursary, he completed high school with straight A’s and is now studying at the University of Zimbabwe, working toward a career that serves his community.

Rosa’s Story

Building Resilience & Skills

Shows what’s at stake right now. She passed her O-Level exams in Mathematics, English, and Science despite serious financial hardship. She is ready to enroll in a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Management course so she can support herself and her single mother, but only if fees don’t stop her first.

“These are not exceptions. They are examples of what happens when financial support and guidance meet determination.”

MUKANA INITIATIVE

Launching SoonMukana is an upcoming, digital career exploration initiative designed for young people who don't have easy access to guidance. It will use short videos, real stories, and simple tools to help learners understand different career paths and what it takes to pursue them.

By sharing real journeys, not polished success stories, Mukana will help young people imagine futures that feel possible and within reach.

Mukana is part of our commitment to offering guidance early, before young people are forced to choose without information.
